Trauma doesn’t just live in your mind.
It stays in your body — in your breath, your shoulders, your gut.

Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach to healing trauma and stress.
It works by slowing down, listening in, and helping the nervous system finally complete what it never got the chance to.

This isn’t about rehashing every detail of the past.
It’s about tracking what your body remembers — and gently guiding it back to safety.

When your system feels safe, you do too.
That’s where healing begins.

Support After Community or Collective Trauma

When a community experiences violence or tragedy, such as the recent shootings at Bondi Beach, our nervous systems register the shock even if we were not physically present. You may feel on edge, numb, anxious, or unsettled for reasons that seem hard to explain. These are natural survival responses to overwhelming events.

Somatic Experiencing offers a gentle, body-based approach to help restore safety and connection after trauma. It supports the body in completing the instinctive survival responses of fight, flight, freeze, or collapse that may have been interrupted during the crisis. Through this process, the nervous system gradually releases stored activation and finds its way back to equilibrium.

Rudi works with individuals and community members who have been directly or indirectly affected by traumatic events, including acts of violence, collective grief, and loss. His integrative approach draws on Somatic Experiencing®, Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support nervous-system regulation, emotional resilience, and the capacity to reconnect with life.

I was first introduced to Somatic Experiencing in 2019 when I was going through a high-conflict divorce. It brought me a lot of ease during this transition when I felt triggered for the most part. Several years later, I’m helping clients find more ease in their professional and personal lives. My aim is to help people re-wire their nervous system to support them during and after their transition.

Key Principles of Somatic Therapy

Mind-Body Integration:

Somatic therapy recognizes the interconnectedness of mind and body, emphasizing that emotional and psychological experiences are deeply intertwined with bodily sensations and responses.

Trauma-Informed:

This approach acknowledges the impact of trauma on the nervous system and provides tools to regulate and heal from its effects.

Body Awareness:

Somatic therapy cultivates present-moment awareness of bodily sensations, emotions, and thoughts, fostering a deeper understanding of how they interact and influence one another.

Self-Regulation:

Through various techniques, somatic therapy teaches individuals how to regulate their nervous system responses, manage stress, and cultivate a sense of calm and safety within their bodies.

Empowerment:

By providing individuals with the tools to understand and heal their own bodies, somatic therapy fosters a sense of empowerment and agency.
