Working together
What it looks like
in practice.
This page covers the practical side of working together — how we start, what sessions look like, what you can expect, and how to know whether this is the right fit.
How we start
The first step is a conversation, not a commitment.
Before we do any work together, we talk. A free 30-minute chemistry call gives us both the chance to see whether this is a good fit. You'll have space to share what you're working with. I'll explain how I work. And we'll both leave with a clearer sense of whether to take a next step.
There's no obligation and no pressure. If it's not the right fit, I'll say so — and where I can, I'll point you toward something that might be.

A 30-minute conversation via video or phone. We get a sense of each other. You ask what you need to ask. I share how I work and what I'm noticing from what you bring. No intake forms, no assessments — just a real conversation.
We decide together whether to proceed
After the call, if we both feel it's a good fit, we discuss the format, frequency, and practical arrangements. I work with people for a minimum of six months, so we'll talk about what that commitment looks like before you decide.
We begin
The first session is an extended intake — understanding what you're carrying, what you're hoping for, and beginning to establish the safety and trust the work depends on. We don't rush. The foundation matters.
Session format
How sessions are structured.
Sessions are fortnightly. That rhythm gives enough time between sessions for the learning loop to do its work — for you to notice what's shifting, try something different, and come back with real material rather than a week's accumulation of stress.
Session length
60 or 90 minutes
Therapy sessions (Somatic Experiencing, IFS) are typically 60 minutes. Coaching and executive coaching sessions are often 90 minutes, depending on what the work requires. We agree on the format before we begin.
Frequency
Fortnightly
We meet every two weeks. This is deliberate — it gives space for the between-session practice that's as important as the session itself. Occasionally sessions are adjusted depending on where we are in the work.
In-person
Melbourne — Thornbury and Elsternwick
I offer in-person sessions at two Melbourne locations. Both are accessible from across the metropolitan area. In-person is available for therapy and coaching clients.
Online
Australia and internationally
Online sessions are available via video for clients across Australia and internationally. Many clients begin online and move to in-person over time. Both formats work well for therapy and coaching.
Minimum commitment
Six months
I work with people for a minimum of six months. Real change requires enough cycles of the learning loop for new patterns to settle. Six months gives us room to go deep rather than skim the surface.
Fees
Discussed on the call
I don't publish fees here because the right conversation about investment happens once we've established whether we're a good fit. We'll discuss fees clearly and directly on the chemistry call.
What to expect
What the work actually feels like.
People often arrive unsure what to expect from therapy or coaching that works at this depth. A few things worth knowing before we start.
It's slow by design
Sessions don't move quickly. We're not trying to cover ground — we're trying to reach something. That requires patience, and it requires slowing down enough to notice what's actually happening, not just what you think is happening.
You won't be pushed
Nothing happens before you're ready. We work at the pace your nervous system can tolerate. The goal is safety first — not because the work is always comfortable, but because real change needs a stable container.
The between-session work matters
What happens in the room creates conditions. What happens between sessions is where the change often takes root. You'll leave most sessions with something specific to pay attention to or practise — not homework, but an experiment.
I'll tell you what I notice
I work transparently. If I notice something, I'll name it. If something isn't landing, I want to know. The quality of the relationship between us is part of the work, not just the backdrop to it.
Progress isn't always linear
Some sessions shift something significant. Others consolidate quietly. Both are progress. The work that looks like nothing happening is often the work that matters most.
The body is part of it
Whether we're doing therapy or coaching, the body is in the room. I pay attention to what's happening somatically, and I'll sometimes invite you to do the same. You don't need any prior experience of this — just a willingness to try.
Is this right for you
Who this work is well-suited to — and who it isn't.
I'd rather be honest here than optimistic. This work requires a particular kind of readiness. It's not for everyone, and that's not a failure — it's just a fit question.
This tends to work well for people who
- Are curious about their inner world and willing to slow down
- Have some capacity for self-reflection, even if it's underdeveloped
- Are prepared to do the work between sessions, not just in them
- Want something more than advice or quick strategies
- Can commit to a minimum of six months
- Are open to working with the body as well as the mind
- Want a genuine relationship with their practitioner, not a service transaction
This is probably not the right fit if you
- Are looking for quick fixes or immediate symptom relief
- Want to be told what to do rather than supported to find your own clarity
- Are in acute crisis requiring intensive clinical support
- Are seeking a formal psychotherapy service — I'm a therapist in training, not a registered psychotherapist
- Aren't willing or able to commit to the six-month minimum
- Prefer a purely cognitive or talk-based approach
"If you're not sure whether you fit — that's exactly what the chemistry call is for."
